Mentors Matters -7/10/2008

During the team building exercise today Shayne gave me a nickname and I am not sure how I feel about it.  I would love for you to reply and tell me what you think.  I was taking photos when Shayne refers to me as, "Peter Parker."  Now, for those who do not know, Peter Parker is Spiderman.  He was a huge dork who always had his camera around his neck.  (Like Me) He was also Spiderman though.  A superhero who always saved the day and was there in a pinch. (Like Jennifer)  I like to think he meant I was more like Spiderman then Peter Parker but kids can be so mean sometime.  What do you think?

(Is this good enough??)

Today the kids continued using fairway woods and longer irons.  It was hot today, but not near as hot as those balls flying off the clubs.  They are really getting ready to hit the course!

They also began practicing their chipping skills on the putting green.  The chip shot is crucial to maintaining low scores.  Getting the ball close to the hole, leaving a short putt was the goal, and the kids seemed to be naturals after all they have learned.

Also today, Frank was back with another GREAT exercise.  The kids had a giant, wooden letter A.  They had to use ropes to balance the "A" with somebody standing in the middle, then guide them across the ground.  It looked incredibly difficult, but the kids worked so well in teams that it all came together nicely.  Frank always has phenominal activities with an excellent discussion dealing with the meaning of the activity at the end.

Again, we would really like to thank every person who has been able to contribute their time to this group.
